Salt and sandstone near the water
Parts of Cremorne look over the harbour and nearby coves, and Cremorne Point’s sandstone foreshore is close by. Glass on the water side picks up a salt film that shows in low afternoon light. Sandstone steps, walls and garden edges in the shade turn dark with mould and algae. We spot-test stone before using any chemical, then clean it gently so it keeps its colour and texture.

Away from the water, older brick flats sit beside houses that have been painted many times over. Buildings are close together, so side passages are narrow and one wall barely sees the sun. Old paint and render don’t take high pressure well. We wash them at low pressure and point out anything already flaking before we begin.
